C.I.Arb. East Asia Branch Committee Members 2008/2009
The Branch Sub-Committees The following sub-committees are established and run by the Branch: Professional Development and Training The Professional Development Sub-committee is primarily responsible for the Branch's education and training activities, promoting and organizing all courses, seminars and training weekends for members from Associate to Fellow. Entry Course This sub-committee undertakes the organization and presentation of the Entry Courses for would-be members. These courses are presented by the Branch (on average) twice a year, catering for up to 200 applicants. Programme Responsible for the
organization of talks, speeches, and social functions on behalf of the
Branch. Editorial & Newsletter Responsible for the presentation of the Newsletter, and for the Branch's representation on the Asian Dispute Review, a quarterly publication which is circulated free to approximately 7,000 people internationally. The Branch is one of the major sponsors of this publication. Web Site Responsible for the presentation of the Website, and for the Branch's public relations and liaison with CIArb Head Office in London. Regional This comprises 15 members representing the majority of the jurisdictions encompassed within the Branch area. This is one of the most important sub-committee's given the diverse range of jurisdictions within the Branch's remit, and its major role is to allow a channel of communication between members and the Branch Committee. The maintenance and expansion Branch's relationships with other arbitral bodies within the region is also part of this sub-committee's brief. PSDAS Responsible for producing copies of DVD on a demonstration hearing, the project of which is funded by the Professional Services Development Assistance Scheme (PSDAS) set up by the HK Government. Young Members Responsible for liaison between the Branch Committee and the Branch's Young Members Group. Membership Responsible for developing Branch membership. Vis (East) International Arbitration Moot Responsible for organising and running the Annual Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot, an international arbitration education initiative and competition.
